Starting in January 2025, Social Security payments in the United States will increase and this change will last for the whole year. If we qualify, we can receive an extra payment before the month ends. If we qualify for both checks, we can receive them on two separate days.
Once we have the retirement payment, the check will be coming soon. If we get the extra benefit, the payment will come before the month ends.
By looking at the calendar, we can quickly see if we have received our Social Security payments. Having them is helpful because it will let us start the year more effectively.
How do you get two Social Security payments in January 2025?
The Social Security Administration will be sending checks in the next few weeks, but it has also already sent out three checks. If you have a check from before May 1997, it was sent on January 3rd.
The 8th and 15th of January were payment days for retirees who received benefits after May 1997 and had birthdays from the 1st to the 20th of January. Payments are made each day for certain groups of Americans. If you qualify, the payment should already be in your account.
So, before the end of January 2025 we can get two payments on the following days:
- January 22nd. On this day only citizens with payments after May 1997 get a check. It is also necessary to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
- January 31st. Retirees with Supplemental Security Income payments get their payments on this day because February 1st is a weekend.
So, if we can access both checks and set up Direct Deposit, we will receive both checks with the updated amounts for 2025. The payments we receive on these days will be the same as those we get throughout the year. This information from Social Security helps us plan our budget better.
