Watertown, New York. Beginning in 2025, parts of the Great Lakes region could see feet of snow.
Many cities along Lake Erie and Ontario are under a Winter Storm Watch from Wednesday to the end of the week.
Much of western and northern New York could see anywhere from 3 inches to 3 feet of snow as arctic air moves in from Canada.
By Thursday, snow will have moved into Watertown, New York, and the surrounding areas. Montague, New York, will likely receive 2-3 feet of snow.
Snow is also expected to affect lake communities in Ohio and Michigan through Sunday.
The Great Lakes are no strangers to lake-effect snow. Since the end of November, Erie, Pennsylvania and Buffalo, New York have received several feet of snow. Several feet of snow have been reported in communities between Syracuse and Watertown, New York.
The lake-effect snow that hit the region in mid-December resulted in travel bans across much of New York, as feet of snow covered roadways and reduced visibility.
This will be the fourth round of lake-effect snow in the region since November, and the first of the year.
