A tragic incident occurred at a Nissan plant in Mississippi, where a woman died after being allegedly kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, according to authorities.
According to WTVA, Sheriff Willie March of Holmes County reported that 29-year-old Joshua Andrews abducted his ex-girlfriend, Glynis Jackson, on Monday morning from the Nissan plant parking lot in Canton.
According to reports, Andrews kidnapped Jackson, a mother of three, and fled on Interstate 55 in a vehicle.
According to March, Jackson fell out of the vehicle while in Holmes County and was later hit and killed by another vehicle.
Investigators are currently conducting an investigation to determine whether Jackson was forced out of the vehicle or if she chose to jump out herself in an attempt to flee.
According to Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker, Jackson died at the 161-mile marker in Holmes County after being shot several times.
A gun was discovered at the scene.
Andrews willingly turned himself in to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
Tucker says the suspect will be prosecuted in Madison County. Currently, the suspect is being held in the Madison County Detention Center without bond.
As a convicted felon, Andrews faces serious charges including capital murder and illegal firearm possession.
“This is a truly appalling crime that has deeply disturbed society. Tucker stated that Andrews will face the full force of the law and be prosecuted accordingly.
According to the Holmes County sheriff, Andrews was previously arrested for aggravated assault and served a prison sentence.
“It’s truly tragic for her life to be taken in such a terrible circumstance,” March lamented. “We arrested and incarcerated the young man responsible for this several years ago for aggravated assault. It’s clear that he had a volatile personality to commit such a heinous crime. However, I am deeply saddened that this young lady had to be the victim.
Authorities are currently conducting investigations to determine the reason for the incident.
