Dash through the snow, behind beautiful horses, as the sleigh bells chime on the winter air. DeVries Nature Conservancy is hosting its sixth annual Sleigh Ride and Fireside Supper Fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 14 and Sunday, Jan. 15. Seven time slots are available each day. Guests will enjoy a 30-minute horse-drawn sleigh ride along the beautiful wooded trails at DeVries. Afterwards, warm up inside with a mug of hot chocolate and a hearty meal of Italian chicken, au gratin potatoes, tossed salad, garlic bread, and gourmet brownies for dessert – all served next to a roaring fire.

Admission for the Sleigh Ride and Fireside Supper is $30 for adults and $15 for children 4 to 10 years old. Reservations and pre-payment are required. Registration opens for the general public on Thursday, Dec. 1. Reservations can be made by calling (989) 723-3365, credit cards and checks are accepted.

The sleigh will accommodate 13 adult passengers, with small children on laps – the perfect size for church groups, social clubs, and extended family outings. You can buy individual tickets or reserve a whole sleigh at a discounted rate. In the event of unfavorable snow conditions, a horse-drawn wagon will be used instead of the sleigh, but will still be decked out in lights and sleigh bells.

Not available on the fundraiser dates? Private sleigh rides can be booked almost any day of the winter if we have at least five inches of snow. Prices start at $195, and reservations can be made just days in advance by calling DeVries to book. Gift certificates are available for those that would like to give the present of a sleigh ride.

DeVries Nature Conservancy is located at 2635 N. M-52, one quarter mile north of the Northside Animal Hospital. Signs will direct guests to parking near the main office and conference center. For more information, interested persons may visit www.devriesnature.org.
