Elon Musk sent an ominous message to a veteran Democrat after she was filmed suggesting that First Lady Melania Trump be investigated and possibly deported from the United States.
Musk criticized Rep. Maxine Waters, 86, after a video of her making threats about Melania during an anti-Department of Government Efficiency rally in Los Angeles, California, went viral.
Musk wrote on the video of Waters’ late Tuesday on X: “At some point, Maxine Waters’ many crimes will catch up to her.”
In the clip, published by X account “End Wokeness” and also posted by Fox News host Sean Hannity Tuesday, Waters is heard saying: “If he wants to start looking so closely to find those who were born here and their parents were undocumented, maybe he ought to first look at Melania.”
During the speech, Waters issues an empty threat to the First Lady, saying, “We don’t know if her parents were documented. And perhaps we should just take a look.”
Her remarks were in response to the Trump administration’s pledge to end birthright citizenship in the United States, which has faced numerous challenges from judicial officials.
Despite Musk’s remarks about “crimes,” public records show that Waters has no criminal record.
Melania was born in Slovenia in 1970 and moved to New York in 1996 to begin her modeling career. Melania met Trump at a party in New York in 1998, and the two married at Mar-a-Lago seven years later.
The First Lady was initially granted entry to the United States on a “Einstein Visa,” also known as an EB-1, which is typically reserved for highly regarded individuals in their field.
According to her White House biography, she was granted US citizenship in 2006 and is now the only First Lady who has become a naturalized citizen.
Melania’s parents were able to accompany her to the United States on green cards that she sponsored in 2018.
Before floating the idea of investigating the First Lady, Waters is heard in the video criticizing the President’s call to repeal birthright citizenship.
“When he [Trump] talks about birthright, and he’s going to undo the fact that the Constitution allows those who are born here, even if the parents are undocumented, they have a right to stay in America,” according to her.
Hannity shared the video on Tuesday, with the title “MAD MAXINE!” In an insane rant, a California representative suggests that the First Lady should be deported.
The Saturday rally is one of several that have taken place across the country since Musk became actively involved in the second Trump administration.
