On June 19th, we held our Annual Cancer Benefit Car Show at the Durand Eagles 3851. It was my first year as Chairperson of the show.
We are excited to announce we made $4,000 in donations to help the family of the little girl, Kaiya, from the Chesaning area with brain cancer. The Eagle Riders will be making that donation.
I would like to thank the car committee consisting of Jim Anderson, Don Austin, Janeen Cole, Bruce and Lorry Benson, Chuck Petrie, Tony Downer, Art Hutchinson, Jim Dallas, Rick Mengel, Sally Daugherty-Libby, Melvin Kile (our DJ) and Belinda Planck for all their help. I could not have done it without them.
We didn’t have the best of weather but had 61 cars/motorcycles come in support of Kaiya. The child we chose to support this year.
Thank you also to everyone that donated money and driver prizes including: Coffield Oil, Island Glo Tanning & Spa, Nick’s Hometown Grill, Owosso Home Depot, Fenton Home Depot, Lennon Cafe, Jim Mattis, Christi Johnson Insurance, Amvets Post 2273, Mallory Cole Riverview Farms, Eagles Coffee Club, Dennis Jenkins, Graff Chevrolet, Janeen Cole, Macy Cole, Don Austin, Belinda Planck, Patti Corwin-Perry, Art Hutchinson, Chuck Olson, Fast Eddies, Brad-Riverside Market and an anonymous donor.
I also want to thank Fred Floto and Joe Hutchinson for their help on car show day. Last but not least, Stu Jackson for the use of his car show program to tally the votes.
I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone.
Patti Corwin-Perry, Durand Eagles 3851
