Editor, The Independent:
Beta Sigma Phi hosted its 24th annual Daddy-Daughter Dance at the Owosso Knights of Columbus on
Oct. 21, once again seeing some of the most wonderful dads and daughters have the time of their lives.
To host an event like this we need lots of support from our community. Again this year we invited the Owosso High School National Honor Society students to help with our picture area and the famous cookie table area. Aubrey DeWitt, Olivia Reale, Nelleke Langdon, Kaitlyn Springsdorf, Valeninta Larrivey and Rebecca Huska were just wonderful with any job we asked them to do. What a credit you are to your school and community; you have our deepest gratitude for such great help. We were fortunate to have DJ Kurt Lewis for the 24th time to spin music for our event. Jared Sega-Griffith from Lincoln High School helped with the music.
We would also like to thank the members of the Knights of Columbus for the help they gave us in setting up and all the technical things we asked of them.
We are very appreciative of the coverage that The Independent has given us and we know how important any article that mentions our dance is in helping our success.
Money raised from the Daddy-Daughter Dance helps fund several projects in our community. One of our favorite projects that we are very proud of is the distribution of at least two coats, hats, gloves and several pairs of socks to every school in Shiawassee County.
After 24 years of sponsoring this dance, we have come to the conclusion that our event has been a “Rite of Passage” for a lot of young ladies and their dads, along with wonderful men who step up to escort a little girl who also wants to be a princess for an evening.
Once again, thank you for supporting our Daddy-Daughter Dance. We look forward to seeing you next Oct. for our 25th annual dance.
