Editor, The Independent:

On Friday, Sept. 25, the Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association hosted its ninth annual Rural Living Education Day with 559 fourth-grade students participating from Chesaning, Merrill, Millington, Owosso and St. Charles Public Schools, Good Shepherd Lutheran School of Midland and St. Paul Catholic School of Owosso.

This program was put on at no cost to the schools or students and included a free lunch served to all involved. It is through the generous donations of time, money, food and school supplies made by our MMOGTA members, local businesses and individuals that we are able to keep this program free to the schools.

We want to thank the following for their continued support and sponsorship: Aunt Millie’s Bakery, Saginaw; BNM Trailer, Elsie; Coffield Oil Company, Bancroft; Family Tavern, Oakley; Frank’s Supermarket, Chesaning; Gordon Veale, milk hauler, Owosso; Green Meadow Farms, Elsie; GreenStone Farm Credit, Corunna; Home Specialist Builders, Rod Lab of Owosso; Lloyd Miller & Sons, Corunna; M-13 Storage, New Lothrop; McKenzie Agency, St. Johns; the Michigan Milk Producers Association, Ovid; Owosso Tractor Parts, Owosso; R. F. Engines, Morrice; S&K Farm and Yard, Owosso; Saginaw Castle Museum, Saginaw; Saginaw County Farm Bureau, Saginaw; Sheridan Auctions, Owosso; Slingerland Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, Corunna; Sovis Insurance Agency, Chesaning; Speedy Print, Owosso; Spencer Construction, Owosso; Steiner Tractor Parts, Lennon; Sweet Stop Bakery, Chesaning; Tim’s Trophies, Montrose; Tuma Farm Bureau Agency, Corunna; the FFA students from Chesaning and New Lothrop High schools; and our many family, friends, and neighbors who are not members of our organization but volunteer their time to help us with this program.

Last but not least, we want to thank the MMOGTA membership for their hard work and dedication in putting this program on.

This program would not be the success it is without the support we receive from all of you!
