THE DURAND VFW sewing group is selling raffle tickets for the chance to win this “Freedom Rings” lap quilt. Kathy Lincoln, a founding member of the group, can be seen holding the quilt with Durand VFW Commander Bert Winer in the Durand VFW social club, 923 N. Saginaw St. in Durand. The drawing will take place at the social club during “Burgers and Beer Night” on Tuesday, May 30. Tickets, which can be purchased inside the social club during business hours, will be sold until 6:55 p.m. on May 30. Proceeds will be used to purchase sewing supplies.
The quilt was made by group member Loretta Rolfes, group member Carol Moore donated the fabric and pattern, and the Village Quilters of Vernon donated the quilting.
