WIN NUMBER 200 – Durand Varsity Soccer Coach Floyd Lincoln achieved yet another milestone in his illustrious career Tuesday, Sept. 1, in Mt. Morris, as the Durand legend recorded his 200th win as the district’s varsity boys coach. The Railroaders ended the game by mercy midway through the second half, defeating the Panthers 10-2 behind Sergio Garcia’s four goals. The next milestone set to fall for the coach is the 400-win combined girls/boys mark.

Lincoln, who is also a Science teacher with the district, was surprised after the game by his wife Vicki and Durand Athletic Booster President Michelle Koons with a banner (which was signed by his players) and balloons. Several members of his extended family were also present for the game, which made the occasion that much more special for the devoted family man.

Athletic Director Chris Dienes was not able to make the trip to Mt. Morris for the game, but was reached for comment on Wednesday. “This milestone could not have happened to a better coach or person,” Dienes said. “The time he puts in to the program does not go unnoticed and the results are there for everyone to see. We are lucky to have such a dedicated coach and teacher for our children. This is truly an amazing accomplishment.”

The win left the Railroaders with a 2-2 season record. Montrose is on the schedule for Tuesday, Sept. 8. (Independent Photo/GRAHAM STURGEON)
