Several programs for children are scheduled for February at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library. A Book Wars winter reading program, Lego building, Wii Day, and a Presidents’ Day movie showing will all be held during the month.

Children are invited to participate in Book Wars by checking out and reading library books, then entering drawings when the books are returned. Drawings will be held for restaurant gift cards, an Amazon gift card, and a copy of the newest Star Wars movie when it is released in stores in the spring. Book Wars will continue through the end of March.

The next Lego day will be held with a Star Wars theme on Friday, Feb. 12 from 1-5 p.m. Children may select from the library’s many Lego kits to create designs. Adults are welcome to help with Lego building and completed projects will be displayed at the library until the next Lego day.

A Star Wars Wii day will be held at the library on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Kids can challenge their family or friends with a variety of Wii games. All equipment and games are provided by the library.

A family friendly animated movie will be held on Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. Due to licensing restrictions, the title of the movie may not be released to the newspapers. Admission is free and popcorn will be served.
