DURAND EAGLES Aerie 3851 hosted its annual Cancer Benefit Car Show on Saturday, June 15, and despite the rainy conditions, more than 50 classic vehicle owners participated in the event. The Durand Eagles were hosting the car show for the 10th year, with this year’s proceeds benefitting James Peoples and his family. James was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2016, at the age of 4 years old.

Due to a late diagnosis, James’ cancer was in Stage 4 when discovered and has required 13 cycles of chemo and two stem cell transplants. James is currently receiving treatment at the University Hospital in Ann Arbor. James will also be the beneficiary of the Durand Eagles Riders’ Cruisin’ for a Cure benefit motorcycle ride on August 3.

Shown on Tuesday, June 25 is the Car Show Committee, which includes (from left) Jim “Rooster” Anderson, Patti Corwin-Perry, Gary Miller, Belinda VanGorp, Chuck Olund, Dale Hall and committee chair Bill Young. Hall can be seen holding the Top 20 trophy he received at the car show for his 1964 GTO.

Melvin Kile was awarded the Best in Show trophy in the pre-1985 division for his 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS, Rhonda Kelly and her 2015 Chevrolet Camaro won the post-1985 division and Patti Corwin-Perry’s 1969 Plymouth Road Runner won the Committee Car division.
