The Durand Board of Education and Superintendent Craig McCrumb put Doyle Knight back on the market and began the sealed bidding process Feb. 15. The school was slated to be sold to the Victory Biker Church of Lennon, but the potential buyers could not follow through in their efforts to buy the building.

Potential buyers will have the opportunity to tour the school at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, and bids are due to the Durand Administration Building by noon on Monday, March 13. Bids will then be

discussed later that evening at the Board of Education’s 7 p.m. meeting, which will be held at Durand Middle School. Also during the Monday, March 13 board meeting, bidders will make presentations regarding their plans for the building, and the community will have a chance to discuss the sale with board members.

The board held several lengthy community discussions with the Lennon community prior to accepting the $125,000 bid from the Victory Biker Church in 2016, so the community’s feedback is still fresh in the minds of the Durand board members and administrators, according to McCrumb.

The board will then select and take action on the bids during the Wednesday, March 29 Board of Education meeting. Doyle Knight will be sold as-is, and the 18,459 square-foot building sits on 2.45 acres of property. The sale also includes a 16-foot by 16-foot shed that is on the property.
