THE CURWOOD CASTLE PARK RENOVATION PROJECT is underway as seen on Wednesday morning, Oct. 18. In August, the Owosso City Council awarded the project to Sumbera Excavating, Inc. with a completion date set for Friday, Oct. 13. However, because the park is utilized by events connected to both Curwood Castle and the Shiawassee Arts Center, the schedule had to be adjusted. The work should be finalized by the end of October.
The improvements that are taking place in the park to the north of the Shiawassee Arts Center are in large part because of a $45,000 Recreation Passport Grant from the DNR, and will include new sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. Along with those improvements will be bus parking and the inclusion of handicap accessible parking spaces. More lighting will be added along the bus parking area, while other existing park lighting will be updated.
