The Corunna Robotics team followed up its first-place performance in the FIRST District Event at Kettering University with an impressive performance at the FIRST District Lansing Event in Mason March 24 through 26. While the Corunna team was not a part of the winning alliance this time around, their ninth-place finish tops their 25th-place finish at Kettering.

The team used its positive momentum from its run to the finals at the Kettering competition to surge out of the gate on Friday in Mason. The team won its first seven games on the way to an 8-4 qualifying round record, which was good enough for ninth place out of 40 teams. The top eight teams from the qualifying round are selected as alliance captains before the quarterfinal round, and each of those eight teams chooses two alliance teams from the remaining pool of teams. As the ninth-place finisher, Corunna narrowly missed getting to pick its alliance. The team lost a close three-game match in the quarterfinal round.

The Corunna team is ranked 43rd in the state four weeks into the season and is not scheduled to compete again before the state finals competition April 13 in Grand Rapids.
