In observance of the National Day of Prayer, Owosso Area Ministerial Association is hosting a community prayer event on Thursday, May 5, at noon at Fayette Square on N. Washington St., in Owosso. The event will begin with a few readings and prayers by area pastors. Then, participants will be invited to circulate through a number of prayer stations to pray for government leaders, families, and other community concerns. Individuals will be free to pray according to their own tradition at each station and may move through the stations at their own pace. The event is open to the public.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
