Capital Area Community Services, Inc. is taking applications for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. This program provides nutritious food, on a monthly basis to low-income residents of Shiawassee County who are 60 years of age or above.Persons sixty years of age or older (130 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines) may be eligible. To qualify, individuals must live in Shiawassee County and meet program guidelines.
For a family size of one, 130 percent of the FPG is an annual income of no more than $15,301; for a family size of two, the maximum annual income for the FPG is $20,709; for three, $26,117; for each additional member, add $5,408 to the maximum for the FPG based on the family size.
Distribution will begin Nov. 10, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Perry City Hall, 2013 W. Polly Street, Perry; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Durand Eagles, 5230 S. New Lothrop Road, Durand. Starting Nov. 11, the food will be available at the Capital Area Community Services, Inc., 1845 Corunna Avenue (M-71), between Owosso and Corunna, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
