Capital Area Community Services, Inc. is taking Applications for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. This program provides nutritious food, on a monthly basis to low-income residents of Shiawassee County who are 60 years of age or above.

Persons 60 years of age or older (130 percent federal poverty guidelines) may be eligible. To qualify, individuals must live in Shiawassee County and meet program guidelines. A single-person household can not make more than $15,678. A two-person household may not have a maximum income that exceeds $21,112, and a three-person household may not exceed more than $26,546. For each additional member of the household, add $5,434 to the maximum yearly household income.

Distribution will begin on Tuesday, July 11 from 10 to 11 a.m., at Perry City Hall, 203 W. Polly St., Perry; and on Tuesday, July 11 at the Durand Eagle’s Club, 5230 S. New Lothrop Rd., Durand from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

From Wednesday, July 12 through Friday, July 21, food will be distributed at Capital Area Commodity Services, 1845 Corunna Ave., from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 4 p.m.
