Chrissy Teigen Calls the White House's Reaction to Selena Gomez's Immigration Raids Post 'Loser Behavior'

Chrissy Teigen is defending Selena Gomez after her emotional video about the Trump administration’s mass deportations sparked a response video from the White House.

“I love her,” the Cravings author told TMZ about Gomez on Monday night (February 3). “Empathy should never be frowned upon or made fun of, and the fact that the White House has enough time to even make a statement or a video about it is f—ing preposterous and disgusting and lame and loser behavior.”

Gomez’s original video showed the “Rare” singer in tears, promising to do everything she could to assist undocumented Mexican nationals in the midst of immigration raids. “I’m very sorry. “All my people, especially the children, are being attacked,” Gomez sobbed in the now-deleted video, which can be viewed here. “I do not understand. I am so sorry; I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I do not know what to do. I promise to try everything.

In response, the White House shared a video on X that includes clips of Gomez interspersed with videos of mothers whose children were allegedly killed by undocumented immigrants. In the video, the women criticize the actress, saying, “You don’t know who you’re crying for.”

In addition to the White House, Republican Utah politician Sam Parker reacted to Gomez’s video by suggesting she be deported because her grandparents came to the United States illegally. “Thanks for the laugh and threat,” Gomez wrote on Instagram.

According to a National Institute of Justice-funded report released in September, “undocumented immigrants are arrested at less than half the rate of native-born U.S. citizens for violent and drug crimes and a quarter the rate of native-born citizens for property crimes.”
