CARE N ASSIST formally introduced the new Care N Assist Assisted Living with a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Thursday, Feb. 1. The event, which was organized with the help of the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce, included an open house and a tour of the six-bedroom facility, which is located at 1595 Parmenter Rd. in Corunna. Care N Assist has offered in-home care from its office on Shiawassee Street in Corunna since 2005, and Care N Assist also has facilities in Davison, Marshall, Kalamazoo and Three Rivers.
The new, 4,000-square-foot Parmenter Road facility was formerly the home of Care N Assist CEO Daniel Story’s parents, Rick and Rena Story. Daniel purchased the house from his parents, who had no need for such a large home after their children grew up and moved out, and Rick and Rena moved just down the road to Daniel’s grandmother’s home.
And how did Daniel’s grandmother’s home come to be unoccupied? Why, she moved into the new Care N Assist Assisted Living, of course. If there could possibly be an ultimate measurement of an assisted living facility’s quality, the CEO moving his grandmother in might be it.
Shown during the ribbon cutting are Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce (SRCC) ambassadors, with Daniel Story holding the oversized SRCC scissors while standing next to facility manager Glenn Sizemore. Rena and Rick (second and third from right, respectively) were also on hand for the celebration.
