The village of Byron will host its annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 8, with activities for people of all ages that will begin early in the day and stretch long into the evening. The day’s festivities will begin at 9 a.m. with a 5K race that will start at Byron High School, and the Byron Fireworks Friends’ acclaimed fireworks show will cap the evening.

Following the 5K, festivalgoers are encouraged to take a stroll through downtown Byron to check out the village’s unique shops and the community yard sales that will be happening. Lunch will be served at Matador’s Pizza and Byron’s Downtown Deli, and a pig roast will be held at the Byron Masonic Lodge. The fun will continue with a parade through downtown, beginning at 2 p.m., which will lead into Byron Sesquicentennial Park, where the remainder of the day’s festivities will occur.

There will be many free games in the park, along with educational/interactive activities offered by several Byron High School groups, and craft/novelty booths, and concessions. The Cardboard Boat Regatta will be back for its second year, beginning at 3 p.m.

The parade line-up will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Byron Elementary School. Fireworks spectators are encouraged to sit in the bleachers at the Byron High School football field, or on the hill in the park. Fireworks will begin at dusk. While many of the games offered in the park will be free, some will require a small fee, with prizes awarded.
