The MHSAA boys basketball district brackets were released on Sunday in a slightly different format.
For the past few seasons, the MHSAA has used the Michigan Power Ratings (MPR) to separate the top teams in each district, ensuring that they will most likely advance to the championship game rather than the previous random draw.
This season, MHSAA created the entire bracket using MPR, and here are the matchups in Lenawee County:
Tecumseh (14-6) is the fourth seed and will face fifth-seeded Milan (5-15) on Monday, February 24. Tecumseh started the season 10-1, but has since gone 4-5, dropping to third place behind Madison.
Division 2 No. 6 Onsted (18-1) is the top seed and will face the winner of the Tecumseh-Milan matchup on Wednesday, February 26.
The other semifinal is an intriguing matchup, pitting the SEC White champs, No. 2 Adrian (16-3) and standout Stevie Elam against current LCAA co-leaders Onsted and Madison (16-3), who have won ten straight games.
The final will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28.
Hudson (10-9) is the top seed in its home district after winning two games last season.
The Tigers will face the winner of Monday’s game between No. 5 Sand Creek (2-17) and No. 4 Addison (5-14) on Wednesday.
No. 2 Hillsdale (9-10) will face No. 3 Jonesville (12-9) in the other semifinal.
The final will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28.
This bracket features six teams, with two Monday matchups pitting No. 6 Manchester (5-14) against No. 3 Blissfield (11-10), and No. 5 Clinton (6-14) against No. 4 Erie Mason (10-10).
The winner of the Clinton/Erie Mason game will face top-seeded Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central (16-4), while the winner of the Blissfield-Manchester game will face second-ranked Whiteford (14-7).
The final will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28.
Division 4, No. 6. Lenawee Christian narrowly defeated No. 8 Summerfield to claim the district’s top seed.
The Cougars (17-3) will face the winner of Monday’s match between fifth-seeded Morenci (3-17) and fourth-seeded Ann Arbor Central Academy (8-11). The other semifinal pits the Bulldogs (18-1) against third-seeded Britton Deerfield (8-11).
The final will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28.
