Baker College has announced the appointment of Cleamon Moorer Jr., DBA, as dean of the College of Business. “Dr. Moorer is a uniquely gifted and energetic addition to Baker College,” said Bart Daig, Ph.D., Baker College System president and CEO. “He is a collaborator, a committed educator and mentor, and he understands firsthand the challenges associated with pursuing college and career.”
Moorer, a native of Detroit, was formerly dean of the School of Business at Madonna University in Livonia, and has held positions as a professor, lecturer, management consultant, business executive, and telecommunications engineer.
An accomplished writer, Moorer is the author of “From Failure to Promise: 360 Degrees,” the inspirational autobiographical story of how he overcame flunking out of college to become an engineer, college professor, and dean. He has also published another book as well as multiple academic journal articles.
As someone who shares Baker College’s commitment to serve the local communities, Moorer gives back through his charity, Dr. C. Moorer & Associates Inc., an organization that provides scholarships and grants to students and educators.
“Baker College is a great environment for those who are committed to higher education and community revitalization,” said Moorer. “I am looking forward to advancing the goals of the College of Business at each of our campuses.”
In 2015, Moorer received the Spirit of Detroit Award from the City of Detroit Council and was recognized in “40 under 40” by the Michigan Chronicle and the Network Journal-NYC, and DBusiness Magazine’s “30 in Their Thirties.” He was also included in the Crain’s Detroit Business 2014 “40 under 40.”
Moorer holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Kettering University, an MBA and a Master of Science in management and organizational behavior from Benedictine University, and a Doctor of Business Administration in management from Argosy University.
