Sheridan Realty & Auction Co., 1007 S. Washington St. in Owosso, will conduct monthly online consignment auctions beginning in March, a service that is unique to Shiawassee County. The service will benefit sellers who lack the inventory necessary to pay for an entire estate sale, and it will offer buyers a local venue where they can inspect items before bidding online.
The prices are also affordable, with sellers being charged a $5 per-lot listing fee and a 10-percent seller’s commission. Sheridan staff members said that although the consignment auctions will constitute a small percentage of its revenue, it is “a service the community needs.” They are also hoping to add more employees to their current three-member staff.
Bidding will be done exclusively online, with scheduled drop-off and preview times set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. Accepted items include, but are not limited to, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, snow blowers, chainsaws, hand tools and antique furniture.
Sheridan Realty & Auction, which also has a Mason facility, has an auction network of more than 60 companies across the country, and more than 300,000 bidders spread across all fifty states. Items traditionally sold include farm and construction equipment, trucks, trailers, real estate and fine antiques.
