Midland, Michigan – The Midland Mall is introducing a new policy. In a Facebook post, mall staff stated that children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Unsupervised children will be asked to call a parent for pickup.
The Midland Mall’s Facebook post stated: “We have debated making this an official policy for a long time. Instead, we have given children the benefit of the doubt and numerous second chances.
We understand that not all children are inconsiderate, but we can no longer tolerate the disrespect or damage to our property.
We’ve had far too many instances of kids kicking holes in drywall, writing on bathroom stalls, shoplifting from stores, full-fledged fist fights, screaming and yelling profanities, being inappropriate in restricted areas, and throwing food and drinks, and we need to put an end to it so that our community can enjoy the mall without having to deal with unruly children.
Your kids are welcome to visit the mall, but please do not leave them unattended. If they wish to visit the mall, please park in the parking lot and accompany them inside.
If we see children without supervision, we will ask them to call you so that you can come and pick them up. If your children are misbehaving, we will call the police.
