Several programs for children are planned at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library this month. Lego day, Picture Book Month, Craft Day and International Games Day are set. All of the special events are free and anyone is welcome to attend.

Lego Day will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, when youngsters can choose to build designs from any of the library’s Lego kits. The completed kits will be displayed at the library until the next Lego Day. Adults are welcome to assist their children with Lego building.

November is the celebration of Picture Book Month. Young children and their families are invited to stop by and browse through the library’s collection of print picture books. The selection includes titles from Dr. Seuss to Splat the Cat to Fancy Nancy.

Other events include a Thanksgiving craft day 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, and International Games Day 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. A variety of board games and the Wii will be set up for youngsters and families to play.
