The Shiawassee Arts Center is partnering with the Owosso, Durand and Morrice senior centers on a mobile arts program that will offer art classes at SAC and the three senior centers at a reduced cost to seniors. SMARTS (Senior Mobile Arts) is made possible through grant funding from MCACA and the Cook Family Foundation. To register for art classes, please call the Shiawassee Arts Center at (989) 723-8354. For lunch at the senior centers call:
• Owosso: (989) 723-8875
• Durand: (989) 288-4122
• Morrice: (517) 625-4270
Anyone experiencing cabin fever, or just wanting to learn something new while meeting new friends, is encouraged to reserve their spot as soon as possible so that adequate supplies will be on hand. No experience is necessary for these classes. All classes are $3 for seniors who reside in Shiawassee County, and $5 for a family member or caregiver under age 60 who may be bringing or accompanying a senior. Remember that all three senior centers offer lunch at noon, so reserve a place for lunch at least a day prior by calling the center. The Durand and Morrice locations offer the art program on the first and third Wednesdays only.
