Some lucky residents of Alaska are set to receive a $1,702 stimulus payment in 2025, giving them a big financial boost. This payment is part of the 2023 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) and includes an energy relief bonus to help with rising living costs.
This year’s payment is 30% higher than last year’s, combining two parts:
$1,403.83 from the PFD and an energy assistance check of $298.17, making the total $1,702.
Let’s break down what this payment is, who qualifies, and when people will get the money.
What Is the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend?
The Alaska Permanent Fund was created in 1976 to share the state’s oil income directly with residents. The fund is managed by the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, which invests the money and distributes an annual payment to eligible Alaskans.
This yearly payout helps families with their expenses and also boosts the state’s economy by increasing spending and investment.

What Makes Up the $1,702 Stimulus Payment?
The total payment has two parts:
$1,403.83 – This is the main Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD).
$298.17 – This is a one-time energy assistance payment, added to help with heating and electricity bills due to rising costs.
Together, these amounts make a total of $1,702 per person for eligible Alaskans.
Who Can Get the Payment?
To qualify for the 2023 PFD payment in 2025, applicants must meet several rules:
Must have lived in Alaska for the entire calendar year before applying.
Should plan to remain a resident of Alaska permanently.
Must have been physically present in Alaska for at least 72 hours in the last 24 months.
Should not have been convicted of a felony in the past 12 months.
Should not have a history of multiple misdemeanors since 1997 (more than two).
Can You Still Apply?
Unfortunately, the deadline for the 2023 PFD application was March 31, 2024. However, exceptions may apply:
If you’re applying on behalf of a deceased person.
If you’re disabled and couldn’t apply in time.
If you’re military personnel who received hostile fire or danger pay.
In these special cases, you should contact the Alaska Department of Revenue directly for help.
PFD Payment Schedule for 2025
If your application for 2024 or earlier years is approved and in “Eligible-Unpaid” status, here’s when payments will be made:
If in “Eligible-Unpaid” status by March 12, 2025, payment will arrive on March 20, 2025.
If in that status by April 9, 2025, payment will arrive on April 17, 2025.
If in that status by May 7, 2025, payment will arrive on May 15, 2025.
Make sure your application is fully completed and approved to receive the funds.
The $1,702 PFD stimulus payment is a great support system for residents of Alaska, especially with rising energy costs. With part of the money coming from the state’s oil wealth and part from energy relief efforts, this payout helps families manage expenses better. Although the application period is over for most people, those with special situations may still be able to qualify. If you believe you’re eligible, it’s always best to reach out to the Alaska Department of Revenue and stay updated on your payment status.
