Accumulating snow probability returns Friday to Mid-Michigan

Lansing, Michigan — We had dry and sunny weather across Mid-Michigan today, but our attention now shifts to the possibility of accumulating snow tomorrow. Even though this will not be a major winter storm in our area, it is expected to have an impact on travel throughout Mid Michigan.

Dry conditions will persist across Mid-Michigan for the remainder of our Thursday. Cloud cover will increase overnight, and temperatures will drop into the mid-teens across the region.

A cold front will approach the area early Friday morning, increasing the chances of widespread snowfall. We expect snow throughout the day on Friday, with a few isolated flurries possible early Saturday morning. Dry conditions will return to the area by Saturday afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies in the forecast.

Snowfall totals in Mid-Michigan will remain between 1-3 inches. However, in addition to the snow, winds will gust between 20 and 25 mph Friday afternoon and evening.

The combination of light snow and breezy conditions may slightly reduce visibility in the area. Due to the possibility of reduced visibility and slick conditions, our Storm Tracker 6 Team has issued a Weather Aware Day for Friday.

As previously stated, we will have a dry start to the weekend, but temperatures will remain cool, with highs reaching the upper 20s. An additional chance of accumulating snow will move in Sunday afternoon, with lake-effect snow possible early next week.

Over the next few days, our Storm Tracker 6 Team will keep you updated on the expected snowfall totals and impacts in our area.
