Sudiksha Konanki was last seen going for an early morning beach walk on Thursday, March 6, during her spring break trip with friends.
A 20-year-old college student who went missing 11 days ago while on a spring break trip with friends in the Dominican Republic was caught on video hanging out at a bar hours before her disappearance, according to reports.
Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh junior from Virginia’s Loudoun County, was last seen in the early hours of Thursday, March 6, while walking on the beach at the Riu Republica Resort in Punta Cana, according to the Dominican Civil Defense and a missing poster shared on social media.
According to a spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), Konanki, an Indian citizen, was traveling with six female Pittsburgh students, one of whom was also from Loudoun County.
The friends have been questioned, as has person of interest Joshua Riibe, 24, who is believed to be the last person to see Konanski alive on the beach the morning she went missing. Riibe has not been accused or charged with a crime.
In footage shared on Instagram by local outlet Noticias SIN, Konanki can be seen with friends at the Riu Republica hotel bar in the hours before she went missing. According to the outlet, Riibe was among those seen in the video taken at the resort, but the two did not appear to interact at the time.
Konanski was also seen on surveillance footage in the hotel’s lobby before her disappearance, according to another video shared on Instagram by the outlet. Despite the fact that the videos contain no key details about Konanski’s disappearance, they do depict her whereabouts in the hotel in the hours leading up to her disappearance.
When PEOPLE contacted the Riu Republica Resort for comment on the two clips, they did not respond immediately.
Noticias SIN had previously shared video of Konanski and a man walking toward the beach on the morning she disappeared. A man in the bar video, identified as Riibe, appears to be wearing the same tank top in both clips.
On Wednesday, March 12, LCSO spokesperson Thomas Julia confirmed to PEOPLE that Riibe was a “person of interest in what is still an ongoing missing person investigation.” The spokesperson was unable to confirm whether Riibe was the last person to see Konanki on the beach the morning she went missing.
Riibe was not immediately available for comment.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, the missing student’s clothes were discovered on a chaise lounge on the beach, with no signs of violence.
Dominican police confirmed to PEOPLE that clothes had been discovered but did not provide additional information.
Konanki was last seen on video surveillance cameras walking onto the beach around 4:15 a.m. local time on March 6, according to a Dominican Republic National Police press release.
After the majority of the group had left, Konanki remained on the beach with one other person, according to ABC News, citing a Dominican police investigation.
According to the outlet, she is believed to have drowned in the ocean after being caught by a large wave while swimming with another person — though Loudon County authorities have challenged this determination as speculative.
When contacted by PEOPLE, police did not confirm the drowning, and the LCSO said in a statement that “there is no evidence or confirmation of a drowning at this time, and the case is being aggressively investigated by U.S. law enforcement working with the Dominican national police, with support from assets here at home.”
According to police, Konanki’s body has yet to be discovered despite a “sea, air, and land” search “in the entire periphery and surrounding areas, through the use of drones, helicopters, divers, boats, canine units, and human personnel, among other technologies.”
Riibe’s parents recently issued a statement, which was shared by Pittsburgh ABC affiliate WTAE, expressing their “deep sorrow and solidarity” with Konanki’s family and stating that their son had “fully cooperated in the search and clarification of the facts from the very beginning.”
According to a prosecutor’s office source, Riibe’s story changed over the course of four interrogations, as previously reported by PEOPLE. According to the insider, he met Konanki at the hotel where they were staying and was “partying” with friends.
“We are keeping all avenues of investigation open, but at this time we have no concrete elements that could lead us to believe that foul play was involved,” a law enforcement source told PEOPLE.
