Irregularities in the United States Social Security payment schedule are uncommon, but extra payments may occasionally arrive in eligible beneficiaries’ checking accounts. In these cases, knowing ahead of time allows you to better organize your household finances.
Although payments are usually delivered on the specified days, these irregularities mean that we may receive the payment before the usual day. So it’s definitely good news, especially since the check arrives early rather than late.
Knowing this, it’s always best to look at the whole calendar for the entire month. This is especially true if we not only have our Social Security retirement payment, but also our Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment, which only goes to the neediest citizens.
Who will get two Social Security payments in the coming days?
In total, we may receive up to two Social Security payments in the coming weeks. However, you can only receive one of these payments: the retirement payment or the SSI payment.
To clarify, the payment days will be as follows:
- Social Security retirement checks: February 12, 19, and 26, 2025.
- Payment of Supplemental Security Income: February 28, 2025.
This final payment is irregular because the last day of the month is not the usual day for sending these benefits. As a result, the payments made on this day will only benefit the recipients of this benefit.
The payment on February 12th is for pensioners born after May 1997 with birthdays between the first and tenth of the month. The other two payment days have the same first requirement, but you must have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month for February 19th and between the 21st and 31st of any month to be part of the group that collects on February 26th.

Why is there an irregular Social Security payment in February?
The truth is that the SSI payment for February 2025 is irregular in two distinct ways. The payment for February was not sent on the first of the month, but on January 31st, 2025. And we’re in the same situation in March 2025.
March 1, 2025 is a weekend. That is the primary reason why February 28th has been designated as the new deadline for sending payments for this benefit. And this is the primary reason why Social Security sends the check in advance.
If you have Direct Deposit enabled, you won’t have to worry about anything except receiving your payment on the same day. Make sure you activate this collection method so you don’t have to wait any longer.
