Halle Berry is speaking out as the devastating Palisades Fire and other wildfires in California continue to rage through Los Angeles, pleading for compassion as the ongoing natural disaster unfolds.
The Monster’s Ball actress took to Instagram on Wednesday, January 8, to share some heartbreaking photos of what she described as her own neighborhood.
The images depicted the chaos caused by the fires, which started earlier this week and have since been gaining power and wreaking havoc for days on end.
The devastating scene, captured by KTLA5 News and the Los Angeles Times, showed structures engulfed in flames as first responders and firefighters attempted to control the situation. There was also a shot of gray, smoky skies, with cars driving on a road beneath them in the eerie setting.
“This is from my hood. Look at the sky. That is smoke, not clouds, from a fire that has consumed more than 2,900 acres and is still uncontained.
Berry captioned the social media post, “It’s left so many homes and buildings without power and killed at least two people, with more suffering serious injuries.”
Despite the situation, supporters poured into the comment section to express their love.
“I’m praying for you all,” one person said, while another was concerned, writing, “This breaks my heart for so many families and communities. My lord. I’m so glad you’re okay. “I was thinking about you today.”
“How does something like this even happen?” a third inquired, adding, “Crazy!” “Prayers up.”
Several others simply sent messages of sympathy and well wishes amidst the traumatic circumstances.
According to live updates from CNN Weather, the Palisades, Sunset, Eaton, Hurst, and Lidia fires had consumed over 28,000 acres of land as of this writing.
According to the news outlet, five people have died as a result of the tragedy, with celebrities such as Billy Crystal, Anna Faris, Adam Brody, Paris Hilton, and Leighton Meester among those who have lost their homes.
