Shiawassee County 911 Dispatch Supervisor Angela Norling received a call on Sunday, Jan. 25, from baby Mason’s grandmother, Linda Justice of Laingsburg, who was frantic. The baby had just eaten and he kept losing his breath. Supervisor Norling immediately dispatched the paramedics and then instructed Justice to turn the baby on his side and clean out his mouth and nose with a nose suction tool. After a few times the baby started crying. When the paramedics arrived, they assessed the baby and did not have to transport the infant to the hospital. Mason’s grandma, Linda Justice said, “There was still no relaxing for me after he started crying. I didn’t want to get off the phone with the dispatcher. I was tickled pink when I heard that Angie was getting this award. I wouldn’t have thought to do that. I really feel that she helped me save Mason’s life.” Supervisor Norling has been a dispatcher for four years. She lives in New Lothrop and has three children. Norling was completely surprised at the presentation and said, “I am so happy that you brought baby Mason so I could meet him.”
