The celebration of October as Harry Potter month is coming to a close at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library. The final events will be Friday, Oct. 30, and will include a banquet, Harry Potter character costume contest and a movie showing.
The free banquet will begin at 5 p.m. Because space is limited, registration is required by Oct. 28. Children of all ages are welcome to attend, but those under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
The costume contest will be at 6 p.m. Children are invited to appear as their favorite Harry Potter character. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
Following the costume contest, a family friendly Halloween themed movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Due to licensing restrictions, the name of the movie may not be released to the newspaper.
For more information on the final Harry Potter events or to register for the banquet, persons may contact the library, (989) 288-3743.
