BIDDING BEGAN during the 2018 Shiawassee County Junior Livestock Auction on Friday, Aug. 10 with a gallon of milk from Kennedy Birchmeier’s Grand Champion Dairy steer. A large group of bidders paid $25,250 for the gallon of milk, topping the winning 2017 bid of $21,400.
The Shiawassee County Dairy Association uses a portion of the winning bid every year to fund scholarships for Shiawassee County Dairy steer exhibitors, with more than $18,000 in scholarships having been awarded to date.
