15 people were hurt when a Brightline train collided with a fire truck in Florida

On Saturday morning, a Brightline train collided with a fire truck in Delray Beach, Florida, injuring three firefighters and twelve train passengers, according to city officials.

The three injured Delray Beach firefighters were taken to a local hospital and are currently in stable condition. Two of the firefighters were initially listed as critical, but their condition has since been updated.

In addition to the firefighters, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue assisted in transporting 12 passengers from the train who sustained minor injuries to a hospital. There are no reported fatalities.

The accident happened around 10:45 a.m. on the East Atlantic Avenue tracks near Railroad Avenue, according to authorities.

According to Delray Beach Fire Rescue, the firefighters were en route to a call when the accident took place.

The Delray Beach Police Department, Brightline officials, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are all actively investigating the cause of the collision.

Authorities are investigating whether the crossing gates were operational at the time of the incident and have yet to confirm details about the specific cause of the crash.
