The Zonta Club of Owosso is sponsoring a diaper drive to benefit the Shiawassee Baby Pantry through Sept. 30. The goal is to collect 5,000 disposable diapers for area families. Several area businesses and organizations have graciously agreed to serve as drop-off locations for the diaper drive including: *All area Chemical Bank locations; *SAGELink Credit Union (Corunna and Owosso locations); *The Argus Press, 201 E. Exchange, Owosso; *The Owosso Poker Room (next to Kroger on M-21); *The Baby Pantry located at First Baptist Church, W. Mason Street, Owosso.

A special diaper drop box can be found at each of these locations, and donations will be accepted during regular business hours throughout the month of September.

Why diapers? *Area families are in need. *Diapers and wipes cost about $100 a month per child. Purchasing diapers is not covered by government systems because they are considered “hygiene items.” *This cost forces some families to reuse disposable diapers, or to leave babies in diapers longer than they should, which can lead to diaper rash, infections, and other health problems.
