THE EMMERLING FAMILY opened YoWay Frozen Yogurt & Donuts in downtown Durand on Monday, Aug. 27 in the building that formerly housed Bill’s Shoe Repair. Bonnie Emmerling, along with her parents, Jennifer and Larry, spent months renovating the lower level of the structure at 107 N. Saginaw St., and the family opened Durand’s newest business just in time for the Labor Day weekend. Local residents have since flocked to YoWay to sample the wide variety of self-serve frozen yogurt flavors – with 42 toppings – and donuts. YoWay also offers soft serve and hand dipped ice cream, coffee and iced coffee.
YoWay Frozen Yogurt & Donuts, as shown on Monday, Aug. 27, has been packed since it opened, with customers coming close to exceeding YoWay’s 49-person maximum occupancy limit. The business has already become a favored destination for families seeking a sweet after-dinner treat, and for early-morning commuters hoping to grab a donut and coffee on the way to school or work.
