Adults are encouraged to join the winter fun at the Owosso Branch of the Shiawassee District Library during the month of February. A number of programs will be taking place:

Blind Date With a Book returns from Feb. 1-13. Check out a wrapped book, read it, and return the book along with the bookmark asking for your rating and comments. Selected comments (without the reader’s name) will be posted on the library’s Facebook page, and all bookmarks will be placed in a drawing for some chocolate hearts. The drawing will take place on Feb. 19.

Between the Lines, an adult coloring club, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Participants may bring their own supplies or use the library’s colored pencils and coloring sheets. The library will supply coffee and attendees may bring a snack to share if they wish.

Crafter Hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants should provide their own project and supplies. The library will supply coffee and have someone available to help those wishing to learn how to knit. Anyone wishing to make that knitting project will need a set of number 5 knitting needles and one ball of 100 percent cotton yarn (such as Sugar’n Cream).

An Adult Winter Reading Program continues through Feb. 27 with the theme of “Hot Reads for Cold Nights.” Anyone reading five or more books will receive a small prize. Reading logs may be picked up at the adult department circulation desk. In addition, for each book listened to or read, participants may enter their name into a drawing to be held at the end of the program for a $10 Meijer gift card. This contest is open to all adults and high school students with a valid SDL library card. All books must be borrowed through SDL; books borrowed through MeLCat (interlibrary loan) or the library’s Overdrive account also count.

For more information on these programs, please contact the library at (989) 725-5134.
