Capital Area Community Services has announced that its 28th annual Walk for Warmth will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Owosso Community Center, 300 N. Washington St., Owosso. Registration will open at 10:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 11 a.m.

Walk for Warmth is a statewide effort to raise awareness of people experiencing heat-related emergencies. Funds are raised through contributions from individuals, businesses, civic organizations, clubs and church groups and are used to assist local residents with heat-related emergencies. One hundred percent of the funds raised through the Shiawassee County Walk for Warmth will be used to assist low-income households within Shiawassee County.

With the high number of local families needing heat-related assistance, the support of area businesses, individuals and civic groups is critical. Donations can be mailed to: CACS, Shiawassee County Access Center, 1845 Corunna Ave., Owosso, MI 48867. For further information, please call (989) 723-3115.
