DURAND’S varsity football players marched onto the field on Friday, Sept. 8 prior to their matchup against Goodrich. The players can be seen, in their special edition Operation Freedom II uniforms, lined up across the home sideline as they await the entrance of the many veterans who were honored during a special pre-game ceremony.

The veterans entered through the stadium’s south entrance to a standing ovation and joined the players on the track in front of the home grandstand. Each player presented their military hero(s) to the crowd as each veteran’s bio was read to the crowd.

The veterans were also treated to a meal prior to the ceremony, and they were all welcomed to watch the game from under the hospitality tent on the track. Durand VFW members raised the flag near the scoreboard at the north end of the stadium during the ceremony, and a plane conducted a fly-over just before kickoff.
