The Vernon Area Florists were recently recognized as a Master Florist by the international Florist Transworld Delivery (FTD) organization that rates the quality and service of florists worldwide. Owner Denise Crawford, who is also a master gardener, entered the program about eight months ago and has already reached “master” status. The Vernon Area Florists are the first Shiawassee County flower distributor to be recognized with the lofty status by the FTD, which boasts a network of more than 45,000 florists in 154 countries worldwide.

The FTD website says that “The FTD Master Florist Program is an elite program only available to members with ‘best-in-class’ quality and service,” but Crawford informed me that promotion to the “master” level is based on the number of customers serviced with the least amount of complaints. Crawford and her four-person staff have been in business for roughly two years and they offer a wide array of seasonal flowers and plants. They offer delivery as well, and they are currently promoting their graduation and wedding specials. The shop is located on Main Street next to Chase Bank in Vernon.
