A Memorial Day morning 5K Fun Walk/Run was held in the village of Vernon on Monday, May 30. The event was held as a dedication to the memory of Shane W. Cantu. Corunna High School student Erin Madley won the race with a time of 23 minutes, 23 seconds. The top three winners were women and included second place Jessica Gilbert and third place Paige MacNeill. Coming in fourth place was the first male runner James Nemecek at 28 minutes, 39 seconds. Following Nemecek was Mike Turner at 28 minutes 55 seconds and Jeff Decker at 30 minutes and 29 seconds.
Forty participants ‘dressed to impress’ in their best patriotic colors for a chance to receive an award.
