The latest data from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget Bureau of Labor Market Information & Strategic Initiatives, released Thursday afternoon, Sept. 24, shows that Shiawassee County’s unemployment estimate for August dropped to 4.8 percent, from 6.2 percent in July this year and compared to 6.9 percent in August 2014.

The county labor force for August this year was estimated at 32,975, with 31,400 employed and 1,575 unemployed. That compared to a labor force of 32,275 in July this year with 31,225 employed and 2,050 unemployed. For August 2014, the labor force was estimated at 32,950 with 30,675 employed and 2,300 unemployed.
