HELPING – U.S. Army Sergeant Corey Neal, with the 532nd Military Intelligence Battalion of Camp Humphreys South Korea, flew home for Christmas thanks to the efforts of Byron Masonic Lodge No. 80 which coordinated fundraising efforts to bring him home for Christmas with his family.

Sergeant Neal wishes to thank all the area groups and individuals who helped raise over $1,300 to bring him home. “The money that was raised and donated for my ticket not only ensured my children could see me for Christmas, also that they could have a wonderful holiday with great gifts that they deserved.”

Sergeant Neal is a Mason from Wytheville Lodge No. 82 of Virginia. “Byron Lodge was very happy to be able to help a brother Mason and soldier to come home for Christmas,” it was stated. “Many Masonic veterans donated generously to this cause. Brother Tom Myer, from North Newburg Lodge No. 161 said, ‘I spent time overseas during the holidays when I was in the service and wanted to help ensure that Sergeant Neal could come home.’ Other Masonic veterans were also very generous in their support especially Morning Star Lodge in Swartz Creek and Perry Lodge No. 350 in Perry. Also, the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation helped tremendously with matching funds.” (Courtesy Photo)
