The Friends of the Shiawassee River (FOSR) are all set to host their ever-popular annual wine tasting fundraiser. Everyone who cares about and enjoys the river is invited to join friends, family, colleagues and neighbors for a good cause and a great time.
“More than just a night of friends and fine wine, the annual wine tasting fundraiser is the primary means of raising the money for our activities and programming,” said FOSR Executive Director Lorraine Austin.
Annual memberships and participation in the wine tasting sustains all of the FOSR’s programs, including the locally-based Stream Team water monitoring initiative and river cleanup with communities like Byron, Chesaning, Corunna, Owosso and Vernon.
The 2019 Friends of the Shiawassee River Wine Tasting will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Owosso Country Club, 4200 N. Chipman Rd. in Owosso. The cost of admission is $35 for FOSR members and $45 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased online, at www.shiawasseeriver.org or firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling (989) 723-9062.
Guests will receive a commemorative Friends Wine Tasting glass to sample an assortment of delicious wines. Great food, non-alcoholic beverages and a cash bar for cocktails will also be available.
While enjoying fine wine and delicious food, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase last minute kayak raffle tickets and place bids on a variety of themed baskets in a silent auction. The evening will culminate in an engaging live auction for a few very tempting items and experiences.
The event is generously sponsored by The Schluckebier Hood Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, Young Buick GMC, Oster Manufacturing and Oxford Bank.
