Summer property taxes are normally in the mail to property owners by July 1 from local treasurers, with deadlines for payment without penalty or interest varying by local government.
A number of locales have a deadline in mid-September, to correspond with the amount of time taxpayers have in the winter to pay Dec. 1 taxes. Others have shorter payment timelines. Owosso’s used to be July 31, but the City Council changed that about 10 years ago to late August.
Persons who expect to receive a property tax bill, but do not have one by late in the coming week should contact their local treasurer to verify that the billing was sent and had not been lost.
