“Every Hero Has a Story” summer reading program begins this week at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library. The program is open to children of all ages to encourage them to use the library and maintain their reading levels during the summer. Summer reading goes through Aug. 7.
Two special events, craft day and family story time, are scheduled this week. Craft day will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10. Children are invited to drop in and make some fun crafts with a summer theme. All ages are invited but preschoolers should bring an adult to help.
Family story hour with Marissa will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 12. Marissa will read several books and have an easy craft for the children to complete. Weather permitting; the story hour will be behind the library in the park. Blankets and chairs will be provided.
For more information, persons may call the library, (989) 288-3743. A complete list of all of the summer’s activities is available at the library or may be found on the library’s website www.sdl.lib.mi.us. All of the special events are free and anyone is welcome to attend.
