THE DURAND ROTARY CLUB held its annual “Student Opportunity and Recognition Day” on Tuesday, Sept. 26, and 18 students were recognized during the group’s annual event. Cassie Stone provided an excellent presentation of her Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp. Cassie was a student chosen to participate in the 2017 RYLA. Students learn leadership skills, the four-way test, and the five levels of language, as well as how to handle different personality types. The Rotary supports selected students with leadership skills and career development interest for RYLA. The group also offers student scholarships each year. To take part in the Rotary student program, an application can be obtained in high school offices.
