THE SHIAWASSEE Humane Society’s Woofstock V was held at the Fortitude Training Course, 4377 S. M-52, on Saturday, June 17. The Fortitude Training Course is owned by Alec Faber, who also owns the Fitness Coliseum at 2881 W. Bennington Rd., and the former Bennington Hills Golf Course provided the perfect setting for the Woodstock-themed celebration for the second consecutive year. All proceeds from the event will be used by the Shiawassee Humane Society to continue to provide caring solutions for the unmet needs of the local pet population.
The event featured live music from the B Sides, a local rock-and-roll band comprised of (from left) Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Deason on bass; Alderman’s Vice President Tim Alderman on drums; Jim “Guitar Slim,” who supplies guitar, harmonica and vocals; Mike Wells on guitar; and Terry Bush handling the percussion and back-up vocals.
In addition to great live music, those in attendance were treated to a large selection of Michigan craft beers, ciders, wines, and sodas. The cost of admission included a lanyard and Woofstock V pin, along with a commemorative glass and 10 drink tokens.
The event was made possible by the generous support of many local businesses and individuals, including McEwen Trucking, Dr. Antonio Santiago, Paul Schluckebier Wells Fargo, Harris Electric, Heritage Acres Veterinary Clinic, James and Lisa Nash, Mid Michigan Dental, Wells Fargo Advisors, McLaren Rent All, Chemical Bank, Ron and Robin Durepo, and Pat Carmody.
Along with Brooks Innovative Graphics, Clark Fire & Safety, Thermo King Michigan, Elite Pet Styling, Applebee Oil & Propane, Nelson House Funeral Home, and Paul Early Caldwell Banker.
